She sang for the Reagans, for the Bushes (father and son). And also for the Hillary Clintons. When this week the planners of this year’s presidential inauguration reached out to the Tony-winning singer to ask if she would sing during a welcome concert for Donald Trump, She said yes. She said she is just a singer, and it’s a welcome concert for the people on the mall. She also said “I don’t have a dog in this fight.”
She also adds during the interview that – she had not supported Mr. Trump’s candidacy, “I voted for Mrs. Clinton and they knew that and if someone wants me to sing a national anthem or something, we think about America, it is our country and we go.”
Agent of Holliday told USA Today that she verbally accepted an offer from the Trump inaugural committee and also signed an offer.
Ms. Holliday is a Broadway icon, she renowned for her performance as Effie in the cast of “Dreamgirls,” She is well-known for her debut single, the dreamgirls number and rhythm and pop hit/ blues. Now she returned to Broadway this year as a replacement Shug Avery in the revivel of “The Color Purple.” The final performance of that show will held on Sunday and Clintons were in the audience.
The latest talent announcement bolsters an inaugural lineup that Trump himself will be the celebrity-in-chief in Donald J. Trump’s Inauguration.
